On this day in 1965, Sir Winston Churchill died at the age of ninety. As prime minister of Great Britain, Churchill had provided inspiration and hope to the Allied forces during the turbulent days of World War II. During the dark days of the war, he had timely advice. He said, “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never — in nothing great or small, large or petty — never give in except to conviction of honor and good sense.” His words still apply.
Occasionally, good things happen with little or no effort. Somebody wins the lottery, or stumbles onto a financial bonanza by being at the right place at the right time. But more often than not, good things happen to people who work hard, and keep working hard, when just about everybody else has gone home or given up.
Every marathon has a finish line, and so does yours. So keep putting one foot in front of the other, pray for strength, and don’t give up. Whether you realize it or not, you’re up to the challenge if you keep trying. So keep trying…the finish line may be closer than you think.
Victory Goes to Those Who Persevere
“He who labors diligently need never despair; for all things are accomplished by diligence and labor.”
“Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity.”
”Big shots are only little shots who kept on shooting.”
”I realized early on that success was tied to not giving up. Most people in this business gave up and went on to other things. If you simply didn't give up, you would outlast the people who came in on the bus with you.”
“He conquers who endures.”
“Be like a postage stamp: Stick to one thing till you get there.”
Today’s Bible Verse
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12 NIV
